# What to Do Next

Find the guide for your next task after you install FusionAuth and complete first time setup.

> For the index of this section of the site, see [llms.txt](https://fusionauth.io/docs/llms.txt)

You have a running instance of FusionAuth and an admin account. If you haven't finished [First Time Setup](https://fusionauth.io/docs/get-started/first-time-setup.md) yet, start there. Then pick the task that matches your next goal.

## Add Login to Your App

* Follow a [quickstart](https://fusionauth.io/docs/quickstarts.md) for your language or framework. Each quickstart adds login and logout to a sample app.
* [Add an application](https://fusionauth.io/docs/concepts/types/applications.md#add-an-application) in the Admin UI. Every app that users log into needs an application in FusionAuth.
* Decide between the [hosted login pages and the Login API](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authentication.md#hosted-login-pages-or-the-login-api).
* Learn [how FusionAuth works](https://fusionauth.io/docs/concepts.md): tenants, applications, users, and registrations.

## Create and Manage Users

* Let users [sign themselves up](https://fusionauth.io/docs/users/register/basic-registration-forms.md).
* [Register a user and log in](https://fusionauth.io/docs/users/register/register-user-login-api.md) with the API.
* [Verify email addresses](https://fusionauth.io/docs/users/verify/gate-accounts-until-user-email-verified.md) before users can log in.
* Bring existing users from another system with a [migration](https://fusionauth.io/docs/migrate.md).

## Call the API

* Create an [API key](https://fusionauth.io/docs/apis/authentication.md) in the Admin UI.
* Install a [client library](https://fusionauth.io/docs/sdks.md) for your language.
*   Browse the [API reference](https://fusionauth.io/docs/apis.md).

## Add Login Methods

*   Enable [passkeys](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authentication/passkeys.md) or [one-time passwords](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authentication/one-time-passwords.md).
*   Require [multi-factor authentication](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authentication/multi-factor-authentication.md).
* Let users log in with Google, Apple, or another [identity provider](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authentication/identity-providers.md).

## Control Access

* Give users [roles](https://fusionauth.io/docs/concepts/types/roles.md) in each application.
* Learn the other options in [Authorization](https://fusionauth.io/docs/authorization.md).

## Customize the Experience

* Match your brand with a [theme](https://fusionauth.io/docs/theme.md) for the hosted login pages.
* [Configure an email server](https://fusionauth.io/docs/get-started/first-time-setup.md#configure-an-email-server) and customize the [email templates](https://fusionauth.io/docs/email.md).
* Add claims to tokens with a [lambda](https://fusionauth.io/docs/lambdas.md).

## React to Changes

* Send [webhooks](https://fusionauth.io/docs/events.md) to your app when users log in, register, or change.

## Protect Your Users

*   Turn on [CAPTCHA](https://fusionauth.io/docs/security/account-protection/advanced-threat-detection.md#captcha) and [rate limiting](https://fusionauth.io/docs/security/account-protection/advanced-threat-detection.md#customizable-rate-limiting).
* Review the other options in [Security](https://fusionauth.io/docs/security.md).

## Prepare for Production

* Write [tests that run against a real instance](https://fusionauth.io/docs/deploy/test/test-against-fusionauth.md).
*   Plan your [production deployment](https://fusionauth.io/docs/deploy.md).
* [Harden your instance](https://fusionauth.io/docs/deploy/harden/harden-a-production-instance.md) before customers log in.
