SHA-1 Developer Advocate



FusionAuth is a fast growing, privately held startup headquartered in Denver. We are expanding our team to help accelerate our growth and take FusionAuth to the next level.

Our mission is to make authentication and authorization simple and secure for every developer. This means helping developers discover and embrace the best CIAM (Customer Identity and Access Management) solution in the world. We are recruiting a Developer Advocate to help promote FusionAuth’s solution through educational material and participate in our growing developer community. You should be interested in the authentication, authorization and user management space. You should be seasoned at writing clear code and documentation. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, fast worker and excited about growing a company from the ground up.

You will report directly to the CEO. You can work remotely anywhere in the USA.

Create compelling written content including blog posts, long form articles and diagrams. This content will be technical in nature. The level of the content will be advanced beginner to advanced. You should own this content from conception to delivery/publishing. Expectation when fully up to speed is 1-4 pieces of content a month.

Additionally, you will:

  • Engage on social media with users of FusionAuth and other people with authentication and authorization questions.
  • Engage with the FusionAuth community in the forum, Slack, StackOverflow, social media and elsewhere.
  • Being an active participant at events booths (some travel required).
  • Speaking at meetups.
  • Be aware of sales opportunities with community members and pass interested parties off to the sales team.
  • Update and revise technical documentation.
  • Edit blog posts provided by third parties.
  • Explore other forms of content creation, including video.

At the end of 30 days you will have published 1-2 tutorials. At the end of 90 days you will have published a guide and spoken at a meetup.

If you are familiar with the developer journey framework, this position is focused on the "Discover" and "Evaluate" stages.


The requirements for this position include:

  • Proficient in software engineering (mid to senior level)
  • Demonstrated experience creating blog or long form technical content.
  • Self starter
  • Ability to learn new technologies and skills quickly
  • Able to jump into new or existing code bases quickly.
  • Travel (1-3 trips a quarter)


You should have experience with most of the following:

  • Asciidoc
  • Jekyll
  • Markdown
  • Ruby
  • AWS
  • Git
  • One of the languages for which FusionAuth has a client library

In addition, you should be comfortable with some of these:

  • Security or authentication/authorization/identity management
  • Speaking to technical audiences, meetups and conferences (or interested in doing so)
  • Technical communities such as Reddit
  • Social media such asTwitter

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: $85,000 to $135,000
