We are recruiting a Developer Advocate to help promote FusionAuth’s solution through educational material and participate in our growing developer community. You should be interested in the authentication, authorization and user management space. You should be seasoned at writing clear code and documentation. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, fast worker and excited about growing a company from the ground up.

You will report directly to the CEO. You can work remotely anywhere in the USA.

Responsibilities

Create compelling written content including blog posts, example apps, long form articles and diagrams. This content will be technical in nature. The level of the content will be intermediate to advanced and should include code. You should own this content from conception to delivery/publishing. Expectation when fully up to speed is 1-4 pieces of content a month.

Additionally, you will:

  • Engage on social media with users of FusionAuth and other people with authentication and authorization questions.
  • Engage with the FusionAuth community in the forum, Slack, StackOverflow, social media and elsewhere.
  • Speak and participate at meetups and conferences. This includes being an active member at event booths (some travel required).
  • Be aware of sales opportunities with community members and pass interested parties off to the sales team.
  • Update and revise technical documentation.
  • Edit blog posts provided by third parties.
  • Explore other forms of content creation, including video.

At the end of 30 days you will have published a guide or couple of tutorials. At the end of 90 days you will have submitted two talks to conferences, spoken to multiple meetups, and published additional written content.

If you are familiar with the developer journey framework, this position is focused on the "Discover" and "Evaluate" stages.

Requirements

The requirements for this position include:

  • Proficient in software engineering (senior level). You will write code.
  • Demonstrated experience creating long form technical content.
  • Proficient in speaking to technical audiences.
  • Self starter
  • Ability to learn new technologies and skills quickly
  • Able to jump into new or existing code bases quickly
  • Travel (1-3 trips a quarter)

Technologies

You should have experience with most of the following:

  • Asciidoc
  • Jekyll
  • Markdown
  • Ruby
  • AWS
  • Git
  • Screencasting software such as Quicktime
  • One of the languages for which FusionAuth has a client library

In addition, you will be comfortable with most of these:

  • Security or authentication/authorization/identity management
  • Speaking at meetups and conferences
  • Technical communities such as Reddit
  • Social media such as Twitter

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: $120,000 to $180,000
