FusionAuth community version for a commercial system
-
Hi,
We are thinking of self-hosting and using the community version of FusionAuth to manage users of our commercial system. FusionAuth will be used via the REST interface to handle authentication and users that are using our system.
So the question is can we use the community version of FusionAuth free of cost?
We have gone through https://fusionauth.io/pricing and https://fusionauth.io/license-faq pages but we couldn't get a definitive answer.
Best regards,

@johnmiller As long as you abide by the license, you can use FusionAuth for $0.
The license FAQ has some relevant questions:
What are scenarios where I don't have to pay you? Using FusionAuth internally. Using FusionAuth for your web or mobile application.
There are also some scenarios where you do have to pay us, that's a different question in the FAQ.
Definitely open to expanding that FAQ with any wording to make it clearer.
The license has the final word: https://fusionauth.io/license
Free-Tier Software. Company offers a free version of the Software that Licensee may download (“Free-Tier Software”, and each Licensee using such Free-Tier Software, a “Free-Tier Licensee”). Free-Tier Licensees will be bound by the terms of this Agreement by downloading the Free-Tier Software, and the parties will not execute an Order Form unless Free-Tier Licensee also purchases fee-based Offerings. Free-Tier Licensees will only have access and use rights for the Free-Tier Software and Documentation. Free-Tier Licensees do not have access or use rights to the Hosted Platform.
Does that help?

Also, we just updated the pricing page to make it clearer that the Community edition can be used with commercial applications.
