      Hey everyone

      I’ve been using MojoAuth
for a while to handle passwordless authentication (mostly magic links and OTPs) in one of my projects. It’s been great for quick integration and a smooth user login experience — especially since it’s fully hosted and has a free tier for smaller apps.

That said, I’m starting to hit a few limits as the project grows, and I’m considering whether FusionAuth might be a better long-term fit.

Here are some of the things pushing me to explore FusionAuth:

Limited customization: MojoAuth is very developer-friendly but doesn’t go deep into complex user management or advanced CIAM features.

No self-hosting option: Everything’s cloud-based, so I don’t get full control over data or infrastructure.

Federation / enterprise logins: MojoAuth handles OIDC basics well, but not broad SAML or directory sync scenarios.

Scalability and lifecycle control: I might soon need more control over user provisioning, policies, and compliance (which FusionAuth seems to handle really well).

I like that FusionAuth supports both self-hosting and cloud, and includes OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and advanced federation — but it also looks more complex to set up.

      For anyone who’s used both:

How steep was the learning curve moving from something simple like MojoAuth to FusionAuth?

Is FusionAuth worth it for small-to-mid SaaS projects, or is it better suited for larger enterprise use cases?

Any “gotchas” to be aware of before migrating?

Would love to hear from folks who’ve gone down this road or manage similar transitions. 🙏

@vijaysingh1784 Looks like you have done a bit of research your self and made a pretty good analysis. I am not very familiar with MojoAuth, but just to confirm a few things:

        • FusionAuth is very customizable. You should check out things like Lambdas, Webhooks and other various options.

        • FusionAuth can be self-hosted or can be hosted for you.

        • FusionAuth handles SAML, SCIM and other various integrations.

        • FusionAuth is very scalable and gives you great control with api acess and other mechanisms.

        • Depending on your needs, FusionAuth can be as easy to self host as spinning up a docker image to a full blown complex K8s deployment. It should fit your needs there.

        • While there is no direct migration guide for the product you are talking about, there are several other migration guides for you to look over that should give you an idea on how to do it.
